Mosaic
I have been doing some major upgrading to the the Mosaic Android App and will be pushing out v1.3 shortly.
Next Up: Website and database upgrades.

Cold Calls
In order to find Event Planning & DJ services that are interested in offering Mosaic at their events, I have had to take on making cold calls. I have never enjoyed talking on the phone, but have found cold calling to be a rather rewarding experience. Other than referrals or exhibiting at an expo, cold calling is the best way I have come up with to reach my intended audience.

The #1 rule I have developed for cold calls is “Just dial the phone”. If I sit around and think about it too much, I will psych myself out before I ever get moving.

Cold calling has helped me define what types of businesses are interested (event planners vs. djs), practice my sales pitch, and start to get the word out about Mosaic. Like it or not, there comes a time where you have to sell.

Chicago
I will be traveling to Chicago for the week of October 8-12, 2012. Looking for DJ & Event Planning companies that are interested in seeing a live demo of Mosaic. Contact me at Chris@Feltpad.net

Mosaic Photo System
I have meeting with DJ / Event Planning businesses that are interested in offering Mosaic as a service to their clients. It has been a great experience so far and keeps getting better as the project picks up more steam. Lots of great ideas brig shared.

I have been working on an upgrade to The Mosaic Andriod App. This will improve the photo quality, workflow, and general dependability of the app.

For the time being it appears that Mosaic for iPhone is playing nice with iOS6. I will be working on an update to make use of the iPhone 5′s larger screen.

Coaching
I have been getting some business coaching. My coach is using “The Transportation Model of Coaching”. It has been a great experience so far and I will share more about this as time goes on.

Bootstrapper’s Mastermind Call
Still working on drumming up some momentum for the Bootstrapper’s Mastermind Call. The next call is Tuesday, October 2nd.

Week 86 & 87

Tuesday, August 28th, 2012

I am doing a dual-week post because I have been traveling and a bit jammed for time. Here’s what’s been going on:

Technori Reunion
Last week I ran Mosaic at Technori Reunion, a private event for all the businesses that have been part of Technori Pitch for the last year.

Clean Stream
Participated in the Missouri Clean Stream event on the Big River.

Mosaic Photo System
Working on getting a load-balanced system up and running for Mosaic Photo System.

Chicago Fringe Festival
The Chicago Fringe Festival kicks off this Thursday. Feltpad created the Chicago Fringe Festival iPhone App. Be sure to check out The Mosaic Photo System built into the app, with the live slideshow running at Fringe Central.

TEDxWindyCity
Work has begun on the 2012 TEDxWindyCity iPhone App. More to come on this soon.

Chicago Fringe Festival App
The 2012 version of the Chicago Fringe Theater Festival iPhone App is pending release and will be available soon. This years app features the schedule of shows, map with venues, @ChicagoFringe Twitter feed, and includes The Mosaic Photo System, which will be running live at Fringe Central for the length of the festival.

Mosaic Photo System
This week we saw the release of Mosaic for Android v1.2, fixing a major bug that was causing some phones to upload scrambled images.

We are patiently waiting … for Mosaic for iPhone v1.1 to be approved, after a few scary questions came back from the app review team.

Digispark
Finally, after starting to make plans for The Raspberry Pi computer and starting back into some Arduino hacking, I came across the Digispark, a mini Arduino that is small and cheap enough to be left in a project for a long time.

Week 84

Friday, August 10th, 2012

Technori Pitch
Last week (Week 83) I traveled to Chicago and attended Technori Pitch. The event was a great place to hear about some neat new companies, get some inspiration, and network with other people in the Chicago tech community.

The keynote speaker of the night was David Kalt, owner of Chicago Music Exchange. David has built and sold several businesses and has an incredible down-to-earth way about him. Check out his video:

Chicago Fringe Festival
This week we submitted the 2012 Chicago Fringe Festival iPhone App to the App Store. This year’s app has The Mosaic Photo System built in and we will have Mosaic running live at Fringe Central for the entirety of the festival. If you are in Chicago, be sure to check out The Chicago Fringe Theater Festival, August 30 – September 9.

Mosaic
The past few weeks have also seen a lot of work going into The Mosaic Photo System, in all sorts of areas. I have made improvements to every piece of software that is a part of the system, and made some upgrades that will keep the server running smoothly. I have fallen off the wagon on doing cold calls, and have recommitted to doing 1 hour of calls during each workday.
